FAQ
Frequently Asked
Questions
Here are some questions we have been asked from people interested in our security cages.
Q- Why should I buy a security cage for my a/c condenser?
A- Protecting your property from criminals could save you thousands of dollars. Lets look at the facts below:
1- Do not think that it won't happen to you.
2- Educate yourself on the facts of the theft and vandalism that has been taking place in your area.
3- Consider the effects of being without Air Conditioning and the harm it can do to you or your businesses.
4- Is the Cost of replacement lower than the cost of protection?
5- Call a certified service repair man and find out how much a replacement condenser costs.
6- SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT...
Air Conditioning manufactures are going GREEN!! They are being made with R410A
refrigerant. This is going to be better for our Ozone, and better for our future. The cut off
date for R22 is in 2010. Your condenser will not work with certain parts of your inside unit if you are still using the R-22
system.
So... If your outside
Air Conditioning unit is
stolen or damaged and a
new R410A unit is
installed, you will
now have to replace your whole HVAC system. Now the thief just stole the $60 worth of metals from your unit will potentially
cost
you between $4500-$7000
depending on the size of
your unit.
Q- What size will I need?
A- Ordering is as easy
1- Measure the depth, width, and height of your condensing unit.
2- Take measurements of the pad your condenser is sitting on. What it is made out of? It will either be plastic or cement. If you can email
us any pictures of the area surrounding the pad that will help to decide what type of application is needed.
3- Call or email us and we will tell you what size cage you will need.
Q- Will buying tamper proof screws for my A/C protect my unit?
A- It might work from keeping the thief from stealing the material from where it sits now. HOWEVER,
thief's are also stealing whole units and reselling them in classified adds as used units. We have proof that our cages installed with the tamper
proof screws and bolts
that we supply to our
customers are the best
solution to both
problems.
It's better to be
PRO-ACTIVE then
RE-ACTIVE.
Q- How easy is installation?
A- The installation process is simple most of the time. Remember, no two installations are the same, some installations might require some
adjustments.
Still, installation is
very simple. If
you are local to us,
it's best to have it
installed by one of our
professionals.
Q- My condenser pad is plastic, can I still get protection?
A- ABSOLUTELY!! We suggest you order a Condenser Cage that's about 2" larger than your
pad. This will allow enough room to mount your cage into the ground. Plastic condenser pads are very
popular. They are cheaper VERY easy to put in place, and they do meet the condenser installation codes.
If you install one of our cages to a plastic pad, the odds that your condenser will be stolen are VERY HIGH. Plastic pads can be easily cut
or carried away with the
unit.
Our
cages are designed with
the best materials. To
gain maximum security we
suggest mounting the
cage into
the
ground and to a building
where possible, if
mounting to a concrete
pad is not a option.
